Animal Research
The students are hard at work researching their chosen animal! The purpose of this research is to inform them of the needs of the animal so that they can design and build a model of an enclosure for them. The students are really excited about this project! They have 5 main categories that they are focusing their research around: environment, feeding, care, enrichment, and enclosure design. Each of these categories have more specific items for the students to consider while doing their research. We are very excited to see what the students come up with for their animals!
Math
We are almost done working with multiplication! The students have done an amazing job learning the strategies we have worked on! Encourage your child to show you the different strategies! (Groups Of, Arrays, Repeated Addition, and Line Multiplication). We are starting division on Monday!
Writing
Story writing has taken over our writing time! The students are learning to use nouns, verbs, and adjectives to create descriptive pieces. They are working toward writing stories of their own about their chosen animal.
Field Studies
We have a field study on Wednesday. If you have not returned your child's form please return it by Monday.
New field study forms are coming home today. Please return them by Friday March 6th. We also need one more volunteer for that field study!
Science Home Journal
This weeks entry is: Create a hypothesis about the following question. Be
sure to use the if, then, because method we have
talked about in class.
Does ice melt faster in different liquids?
Our goal with this is to have the students focus on the hypothesis, which we have done a lot of work with in class. Have fun testing with different liquids!
Have a great weekend! :)
