Science
Life cycles have been a huge focus in our class this past week! We have looked at various animals and examined the life cycle of each. We are currently examining the 6 different categories of animals. The students have been placed into 6 different groups, and each group has been given a category. They are tasked with learning about the characteristics of that category and will then be teaching their classmates what they've learned.

Social
"Art is something that makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness."
- Anni Albers
We looked at Art in the 4 countries we are studying. The students were able to make connections and comparisons to what we've learned about each country! I am excited for the conversations around these 4 countries to continue!

Math
"I can show my understanding of multiplication to 5x5"
We have been hard at work on developing our multiplication skills! The Alberta Program of Studies indicates that the students in grade 3 should know their basic facts to the 5x's table. We have been playing math games, working on strategies, (groups of, and arrays) to practice these skills. Encouraging your child at home to teach you the math games we have been playing, and quizzing them on their basic facts will be a great help!

Book Orders
Book orders went home earlier this week. Please have your orders in by Friday, February 21st!

Field Studies
Thank you to everyone who has already sent in the forms for our field study on February 19th! I am hoping to have them all collected by next Wednesday!

We are going to the Bow Habitat on February 26th. We need 5 volunteers to join us! Please let me know if you are available to come with us!

Science Home Journal
The students in room 8 will be completing a Science Home Journal entry every week. Please take some time over the weekend to talk about the questions provided and help your student write out their answers. This journal will come home on Fridays and must be returned on Mondays. The questions given will help the students continue thinking about the topics we are talking about in class. This gives the students to deepen their understanding of our Science topics, and increase their communication skills.
