Today was the day we have been waiting for for so long! We had the amazing opportunity to go to the Saddledome and have a private tour!

We started our day with a walk over to where the new arena will be built! It gave us a chance to explore the sight and talk about what the good points are, and what challenges they might have. We also talked about what should happen to the Saddledome once the new arena is built! Despite the cold, the students all had amazing thoughts and ideas!

After a quick break, we walked towards the river to look at the bridges that are there! We looked at the shapes that we saw in the bridges! The students were also asked to consider how they might use those shapes in the design on their own arenas.

We had lunch in the Saddledome and then met up with Rick, our tour guide! We were so fortunate to have him take us around the arena. He talked to us about the structure and the history of the building. We got to see the rink and talk about the ceiling! Ask your student about how the roof was constructed! It was really neat! After walking the concourse and talking about some of the challenges to the current design, we got to go downstairs in to the basement of the Saddledome! We had the opportunity to see the visitors dressing room, and Team Canada's original dressing room. Our tour guide was amazing! After visiting these spots that were already only for very special people, we had the opportunity to go see where the Flames do their various interviews both during and after the games. We got to see the door to the Flames dressing room, and then we got to walk down the hall and out to the Flames bench! It was an awesome experience for the students!

After our amazing tour the students were encouraged to value this experience and the Saddledome because it is slated to be torn down after the building of the new arena! Below are some of the amazing pictures of our day!

Good afternoon Grade 3 Families,   This is a very sad week for us as this will be the last week where we see all of your wonderful faces on the google meet ups,  we will be reading t he last Friday letter you wrote to us and of course  watching  the  talent show to share your passions.  All the grade three teachers are sad to see the year come to an end.  On that note, we will be changing the time of the meet up this coming Friday. Instead of meeting at 1pm, we will be meeting at 9am. This will allow for siblings to watch the grade 4 celebration and be done b efore noon. Please make not e  of that in your calendar so your child does not miss out.    In closing, w e would like to share some  housekeeping  items with you to keep you informed.    Picking up items  – Mr. Laidlaw will have sent  a  time  of when and  where you can pick up the rest of your child’s learning items. June 8th - 12th Learning Plans

Good afternoon Grade 3 Families,   Can you believe it's June already? Time has flown by in many ways, but in others ,  it has come to a  standstill .  As we communicate with   our   families,  teachers  have noticed that priorities are constantly changing .  Spending time with family, being outside, and meeting up with cohort families has taken  precedent  over  school .  Some families are done with constantly pushing their children  and  dealing with the  stress  of  trying get all  school work  done.  Please know we understand and its okay to stop and breath and take a break. Really . . . it’s okay.    Knowing that some of our students are  struggling  with  their drive to complete tasks, we have modified some of the ways we will be  presenting the work.  For example, y ou will notice that Math will be more of a review choice  board,   like  the options choice board. I have finally been able to get our blog up and running again! I apologize for the delay! It has been a very busy week in room 8! Each student is bringing home their TWAS journal that talk about what we have been up to! Please take some time to read through it with your child and talk about their learning! Please sign and return their journal for Monday! Feel free to write a letter back to your child if you wish!   We have arranged for a walking field study to Fish Creek Library. It will be on Wednesday October 9 th   from 12:30 – 3:30pm. We would like to have a few parents join us for this experience. If you are interested in supporting us on this field study, please email me right away.  We will also be sending home forms for our next field study to Central Library and the Downtown core.
