Welcome to November!

We were very busy in our room today! The grade 3s are working on writing proper sentences. Today we looked at how to begin our sentences in a variety of ways.
Math had us using the Base Ten Blocks to add 2 digit numbers. We have been working on regrouping and have found the use of manipulatives to make our job easier!
Thank you to everyone who was able to return the Public Engagement Survey that we created! We are in the process of tallying and graphing the data! Your input will help us with our arena designs!
We had the opportunity to help our grade 1 buddies with their math! We helped them make paper chains to represent friends of ten! Ask your child what this means! They are all experts at it now!

We are now into colder weather, and will still be going outside for breaks as long as it is not too cold. Please ensure your child is coming school with proper cold weather gear.

June 22nd - 26th Learning Plans

Good afternoon Grade 3 Families,   This is a very sad week for us as this will be the last week where we see all of your wonderful faces on the google meet ups,  we will be reading t he last Friday letter you wrote to us and of course  watching  the  talent show to share your passions.  All the grade three teachers are sad to see the year come to an end.  On that note, we will be changing the time of the meet up this coming Friday. Instead of meeting at 1pm, we will be meeting at 9am. This will allow for siblings to watch the grade 4 celebration and be done b efore noon. Please make not e  of that in your calendar so your child does not miss out.    In closing, w e would like to share some  housekeeping  items with you to keep you informed.    Picking up items  – Mr. Laidlaw will have sent  a  time  of when and  where you can pick up the rest of your child’s learning items. June 8th - 12th Learning Plans

Good afternoon Grade 3 Families,   Can you believe it's June already? Time has flown by in many ways, but in others ,  it has come to a  standstill .  As we communicate with   our   families,  teachers  have noticed that priorities are constantly changing .  Spending time with family, being outside, and meeting up with cohort families has taken  precedent  over  school .  Some families are done with constantly pushing their children  and  dealing with the  stress  of  trying get all  school work  done.  Please know we understand and its okay to stop and breath and take a break. Really . . . it’s okay.    Knowing that some of our students are  struggling  with  their drive to complete tasks, we have modified some of the ways we will be  presenting the work.  For example, y ou will notice that Math will be more of a review choice  board,   like  the options choice board. October 4th

I have finally been able to get our blog up and running again! I apologize for the delay! It has been a very busy week in room 8! Each student is bringing home their TWAS journal that talk about what we have been up to! Please take some time to read through it with your child and talk about their learning! Please sign and return their journal for Monday! Feel free to write a letter back to your child if you wish!   We have arranged for a walking field study to Fish Creek Library. It will be on Wednesday October 9 th   from 12:30 – 3:30pm. We would like to have a few parents join us for this experience. If you are interested in supporting us on this field study, please email me right away.  We will also be sending home forms for our next field study to Central Library and the Downtown core.
