Good afternoon Grade 3 Families, 

The grade three teachers understand that these times can be frustrating and stressful for parents who are trying their best to support their child’s learning while maintaining their own responsibilities such as caregiver, working full/part time and regular household duties. As a grade 3 team we fully understand that it can be a struggle at times.  We are constantly trying to evolve our lesson planning to accommodate the challenges our families are facing while still trying to ensure our students receive assignments that are engaging and allow them to showcase their strengths. We are providing a link to a short survey that we ask parents to complete in order to help us understand how things are going with the schoolwork that has been provided thus far. The survey should take only a few moments.

Please know we appreciate all the work our families are doing at home with the students. We understand every family has their own complexities at home and everyone is trying their best. We are here for all of you, to help you through this new type of learning. Please reach out if there is anything we can do to support you.

Monday: Meet up 1pm – Go through the week’s assignments, check-in and to see if there are any questions – read aloud to follow if time.  
Tuesday: Read aloud 1pm (optional) 
Wednesday: Read aloud 1pm (optional) 
Thursday: Read aloud 1pm (optional) 
Friday Meet up 1pm –  Measurement Bingo, check-in and celebrate successes and achievements! Read aloud to follow if time.

Hello!  Welcome to our first week of on-line learning. Thank you to all our families for being patient as we learn how to use new platforms and how to best communicate with our families. We know there will be hic-ups along the way.   We would like to begin by explaining our thought process in how we will move forward. Google Classroom and Google Meet

Yesterday, our principal let you know that the Calgary Board of Education’s was activating Google Meet and Google Classroom to enable teachers and students to better connect with each other. This email outlines what to expect as we begin setting up times to connect with our students over the coming days. Accessing Google Classroom for the First Time Starting on Monday, April 6, we will be using Google Classroom as a learning platform as we continue ongoing learning from home. Below is a brief introduction to Google Classroom and how students at Maple Ridge School will be accessing the tool. Calgary Zoo We had an awesome time at the zoo on Tuesday! It was the perfect opportunity to have the students examine the enclosures of the various animals to look for ideas for their own enclosure designs. We also had the opportunity to see how the animals are cared for, both their health and their enclosures. A few of us had the chance to see a hippo get his teeth brushed! Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who were able to help make this trip a success!   Monday's Field Study Our field study on Monday has been cancelled.
